Savannah’s Top Tummy Tuck & Liposuction Plastic Surgeon

Tummy Tuck also known as Abdominoplasty

For optimal cosmetic results, our doctors sit down with patients for a pre-operative consultation to discuss desired outcomes for their body contouring surgery. After listening to patients and after close examination, doctors can customize a treatment plan that aligns with the patent’s expectations.

Abdominoplasty procedure

Your surgeon will make two incisions: one from hipbone to hipbone close to the pubic area, and another around the navel. They will separate the skin from the abdominal muscles, which are then pulled together and stitched into place for a firmer abdomen and narrower waist. The skin flap is then stretched down and over the newly tightened muscles, excess skin is removed, and the navel is reattached in a natural position. Finally, your surgeon will close the incisions and apply sterile surgical dressings over the sutured areas. The surgery will take approximately two to five hours and recovery time rages between two weeks to a few months. The doctor will have more specific instructions for your individual recovery.

Tummy Tuck Surgery Results

Abdominoplasty leaves patients with a flatter, more toned abdominal area that fits the natural contours of your body. It can improve a patient’s appearance and confidence by helping them look and feel younger and slimmer. The results of this procedure are visible immediately and will continue to improve. With a balanced diet and regular exercise, results are long-lasting. Scars will fade over time, leaving your stomach sleeker and more defined. A tummy tuck will leave a scar spanning the lower abdomen from hip to hip. We are very careful to make the incision low enough for even a bikini to conceal the scar.

Tummy Tuck Surgery Risks

As with any surgical procedure, risks include infection, blood clots and poor healing which may require additional surgery. All risks will be thoroughly discussed in your pre-operative consultation.

Liposuction – A minimally invasive body contouring procedure

Technology and advancements to the liposuction procedure have improved the accuracy for both the patient and the doctor. Patients achieve their desired result with less pain and quicker recovery. Liposuction is an outpatient procedure which is performed under local anesthesia.

Liposuction Procedures

There are several different techniques used to achieve desired results from body contouring surgery. Techniques include tumescent liposuction and both laser and ultrasound assisted techniques.

Tumescent Liposuction

With a tumescent technique your doctor will make several tiny incisions and inject a local anesthetic into the area to help expand and firm the fat, making it easier to remove. The cannula is then inserted through the incisions to suction out the fat. No stitches are needed after liposuction since the incisions are small enough to heal on their own.

Laser Assisted Lipoplasty

In laser-assisted tumescent liposuction, a laser is used to liquefy the targeted fat before it is removed, allowing for an easier and less painful removal. The laser may also be used to tighten skin in the treated area after fat is removed.

Ultrasound Assisted Liposuction

Similarly, ultrasound-assisted liposuction uses ultrasound energy to liquefy fat before it is removed for a smoother removal process.

Possible Risks with Liposuction Surgery

Patients may experience mild swelling, bruising and discomfort in treated area. Other risks include infection, scarring, allergic reactions, hematoma (swelling of clotted blood with the tissues)
